Canucks Hire Manny Malhotra as Head Coach
The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) has announced that it will become an independent league effective immediately.
The VIJHL, which had been a member of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), will now operate as its own entity. The league will continue to be based on Vancouver Island and will feature 12 teams.
The 2023-24 season was a successful one for the Canucks, who won the BCHL championship. The team also saw several of its players reach career milestones, including goaltender Adam Scheel, who set a new league record for shutouts.
The Canucks have also made a significant addition to their coaching staff, hiring Manny Malhotra as their new head coach. Malhotra, a former NHL player, brings a wealth of experience to the Canucks.
